Extreme Deck Waterproofing System

The Extreme Deck Waterproofing System combines the stand-alone waterproofing products Strataflex sheet and SubSeal® liquid membranes to provide a durable, double layered defense from extreme heat and cold conditions ensuring lasting protection of exterior decks.

How It Works

Strataflex is applied according to the Strataflex sheet membrane installation instructions.  NAC TAC (Interior/exterior) Primer or NS97 Exterior Primer may be used for the Strataflex installation.  Once the Strataflex is installed, the entire area is coated with SubSeal® liquid membrane including all termination points.

Preformed inside/outside fabric corners are placed in the appropriate corner and coated with SubSeal®.  A second coat of SubSeal is applied in perpendicular to the first coat to cover any gaps or pinholes that may have emerged.

Seam tape can also be used to flash up walls or posts and a polyurethane sealant can be used to cover end seams and terminations.

The thin, low-profile system (50 mils dry/<1/4") is a perfect solution for low threshold applications on exterior balconies, decks or most areas over living spaces.

Uses

Use the Extreme Deck Waterproofing System over:

Concrete: Poured, pre-stressed and pre-cast concrete, concrete backerboard, mud beds, gypsum, lightweight concrete and patching compounds.

Wood: Exterior or exposure 1 plywood, APA-rated sheathing, Sturd-I-Floor, hardwood, tongue and groove and OSB with standard face. (Gap between sheeting as required.)

Other Substrates: Exterior decks and balconies, ceramic and porcelain tile, stone, terrazzo, VCT/VAT, metal, painted and sealed floors and floors damaged by dry shrinkage and structural movement.

A bond test prior to installation can determine if membrane will bond to difficult and unique substrate surfaces.

Use the Extreme Deck Waterproofing System under:

Thin & medium-bed mortar installations (ANSI A118.4) of ceramic, porcelain, stone, marble, slate, granite tile, pavers, brick, hardwood, manufactured wood, and commercial grade viny requiring integrated waterproofing.  For other types of finished floors, check with manufacturer.

SubSeal® coverage is contingent upon type of applicator used.

Refer to waterproofing applications in the current TCNA handbook for additional installation guide lines.
